10.2. Automatic transmission

On cars the automatic transmission of General Motors is established. The transmission provides inclusion of three transfers of a forward course, transfer of a backing and compulsory inclusion of a low gear. The differential and the main transfer are located in a transmission case.

The torque from the engine to a transmission is transferred via the hydrotransformer which carries out function of liquid coupling and operates as automatic coupling, and also provides torque transfer at acceleration. Torque transfer between gear wheels of a transmission is carried out by chain transfer and a hydraulic drive which operates gear wheels, couplings and brakes, depending on speed and loading. Because the transmission works in enough severe conditions, absolute purity is necessary for normal work of a transmission. It is necessary for considering at addition of transmission liquid or removal of any detail from a transmission. Hit in a transmission of sand or dirt will put out of action the valve and will break transmission work.

The automatic transmission represents the difficult unit therefore in house conditions it is possible to execute only the operations given in this subsection.
