11.4. Forward brake shoes

11.4.1. Check of brake shoes

GENERAL INFORMATION

Prevention

Surely make replacement of all blocks on one axis of the car even if the limit of wear were reached by only one block. If blocks are repeatedly established, before removal they are necessary for marking.

At work of brake shoes the brake dust which contains asbestos is formed, unhealthy therefore when cleaning brake shoes do not use the compressed air and do not inhale a dust.


PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. At existence remove caps of forward wheels and weaken bolts of fastening of wheels.
2. Tighten the hand brake, then lift a forward part of the car and fix on supports.
3. Remove wheels.
4. Turn a steering wheel to the right against the stop and check thickness and a condition of overlays of brake shoes of the right brake.
5. Turn a steering wheel to the left against the stop and check thickness and a condition of overlays of brake shoes of the left brake.
6. Even if the limit of wear were reached by only one brake shoe, replace everything forward brake shoes in a set.
